The Dragon Boat Festival is a popular event every October

The Dragon Boat Festival happens along the Schuylkill River every October. Since the first event in 2002, festival participants and supporters have raised more than $1 million for Fox Chase. Thank you to the teams and all who support Fox Chase Cancer Center through this event.

Run, Walk, and Play for Fox Chase

Athletic fundraising eventsEvery spring, various cancer advocacy organizations host walks, runs, and special events throughout the Philadelphia region to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. 

Many employees from Fox Chase as well as other entities within TUHS help to lead and take part in these community events.

Marlyn Fein Chapter hosts day trip to Renault Winery and Resorts Casino
July 26, 2015
Bus departs 9am from Fox Chase’s OBO building

The Marlyn Fein Chapter of the Board of Associates is hosting a trip to Renault Winery and Resorts Casino on Sunday, July 26. The trip includes roundtrip motor coach transportation, winery tasting, and family-style luncheon at Renault Winery, plus a $25 slot bonus at Resorts Casino. The bus will depart at 9 a.m. from Fox Chase's OBO building on Township Line Rd., and will leave for home from the casino at 6:45 p.m., arriving at approximately 8:45 p.m. The fee for the trip is $62 per person (all taxes and gratuities included). Join in a day of golf for a great cause at the 9th Annual Rita R. Holman Breast Cancer Foundation Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 1. Hosted by Jessica Holman Kowalchick, the event honors the life and legacy of her loving mother Rita who lost her courageous battle with breast cancer. Although not treated at Fox Chase, Rita’s family chose to support the institution because of its research reputation and clinical trials, particularly in triple negative breast cancer, and have donated nearly $50,000 throughout the years. Registration is $80 and includes an afternoon of golf on a great course, food and drinks throughout the tournament, dinner, raffles, prizes and more. Dinner only packages are also available for $20. Kicking Cancer Foundation 7th Annual Philly Kickball Tournament

The Kicking Cancer Foundation invites you to participate in the 7th Annual Philly Kicking Cancer Kickball Tournament on Saturday, August 9!  Last year, nearly 500 people participated in the event, which raised more than $47,000 for cancer research at Fox Chase.  This year, join in the fun and get a great workout in all while supporting a great cause. Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer

Faculty and staff, volunteers, patients, and their families are invited to join Fox Chase Cancer Center/Temple Health at the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer. The run-walk, now in its 17th year, will be held Saturday, September 12, in front of Memorial Hall in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park in order to celebrate ovarian cancer survivors and will raise awareness about the disease. The event will include a 5K run, as well as 5K and 1.5-mile walks.

Registration for the Fox Chase team, led by Women’s Cancer Center administrative director Bonnie Miller, is now open. You can register here. Opening ceremonies will begin at 7:45 am, the 5K Run and 5K walk at 8:30 am. Registration is $30 for ages 6+ before August 1; $40 after that. The Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival is one of the largest of its kind in the United States, and Fox Chase Cancer Center is proud to be represented by several teams racing this year!  Stroll up Kelly Drive along the Schuylkill River on Saturday, October 3rd for this annual event that celebrates ancient Chinese tradition.  Show your support and cheer on your favorite teams while enjoying music, food and plenty of fun!  Last year's supporters raised more than $208,000 for cancer research at Fox Chase. Light the Night Walk

The Fox Chase Cancer Center/Temple Health team is looking for participants and donors for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk on Saturday, October 24 at The Philadelphia Museum of Art at Eakins Oval. During the annual evening walk, participants carry illuminated lanterns of different colors: survivors carry white lanterns, supporters carry red and family members of lost loved ones carry gold. Proceeds will be dedicated to funding research for blood cancer and ensuring access to treatments for all blood cancer patients.

Fox Chase Nurse Navigator Cathy Haberle, RN-BC, MSN, CBCN, CHPN is the captain of a fundraising team of Fox Chase faculty and staff, volunteers, patients, and their families participating in the event. Faculty and staff, volunteers, patients, and their families are invited to join the Temple University Health team participating in the 2015 Philadelphia Heart Walk sponsored by the American Heart Association on Saturday, November 7 at Citizens Bank Park. Proceeds from the annual walk will be donated to further progress in beating heart disease and stroke – two of the country’s most deadly diseases. Temple Health’s team is led by Karen Emanuel Javie, MSN, RN, the chief of operations for the Temple Heart and Vascular Institute and has a goal of $2 million.
