Holiday Gift-Wrap Booth Benefits Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center

PHILADELPHIA (November 22, 1999) -- Busy shoppers can save time while helping a good cause this holiday season. All it takes is a visit to Fox Chase Cancer Center's gift-wrap booth at the Willow Grove Mall.

The Marlyn R. Fein Chapter of the Board of Associates of Fox Chase Cancer Center is sponsoring a gift-wrap booth on the 3rd level of the mall, by the elevator. Wrapping services are available for a small contribution from November 24 until December 24 (except for Thanksgiving Day) during mall hours.

Donations vary depending on the size of the gifts. All proceeds raised at the booth will go directly to cancer research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Anyone with some free time and a giving heart can volunteer. Chapter members will provide "on the job" training. For more information, please call Fox Chase's Board of Associates office at 215-728-2441.

The Marlyn R. Fein Chapter is one of seven member organizations of the Fox Chase Cancer Center's Board of Associates, representing more than 700 volunteers who conduct fundraising and educational activities in support of the Center.

Fox Chase Cancer Center is one of 37 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation. The Center's activities include basic and clinical research; prevention, detection and treatment of cancer; and community outreach programs.

Fox Chase Cancer Center, part of the Temple University Health System, is one of the leading cancer research and treatment centers in the United States. Founded in 1904 in Philadelphia as one of the nation’s first cancer hospitals, Fox Chase was also among the first institutions to be designated a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1974. Fox Chase researchers have won the highest awards in their fields, including two Nobel Prizes. Fox Chase physicians are also routinely recognized in national rankings, and the Center’s nursing program has received the Magnet recognition for excellence four consecutive times. Today, Fox Chase conducts a broad array of nationally competitive basic, translational, and clinical research, with special programs in cancer prevention, detection, survivorship, and community outreach.  For more information, call 1-888-FOX CHASE or (1-888-369-2427).
