Fox Chase Cancer Center houses the area's most sophisticated technology in the areas of surgery, radiation and diagnostic imaging. At Fox Chase, we develop many of the technologies used by others for treating cancer.
Our advanced technologies include precise image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) using Trilogy as well as minimally-invasive choices such as robotic surgery with da Vinci.
Surgery
State-of-the-art surgical facilities and services include eight operating rooms, same-day surgery unit, short-procedure and endoscopy unit, laser surgery and cryosurgery technology, CT-guided biopsy and stereotactic breast-biopsy technology, full anesthesiology capabilities, post anesthesia-care unit and an eight-bed intensive-care unit. Radiation Oncology
Complete radiation oncology services include CT/MRI simulated three-dimensional treatment planning and low-dose-rate and high-dose-rate implants (brachytherapy). The department uses four state-of-the-art linear accelerators for radiation treatment and three treatment planning simulators (traditional, CT scan and MRI). When conditions make a standard colonoscopy risky, Fox Chase Diagnostic Imaging can step in with CT Colonography, a new way to examine the colon without requiring an anesthetic. If polyps are discovered, a standard colonoscopy may be required to remove them.
Diagnostic Imaging
Diagnostic imaging services include fluoroscopy, CT, chest, nuclear medicine, PET/CT, MRI, ultrasound, colonoscopy, mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy. Review and consultation services are available at Fox Chase for films submitted by outside physicians.
Our MRI facility is capable of performing high-quality clinical studies in all areas as well as research applications. Services also include magnetic resonance angiography and magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
Fox Chase Cancer Center has been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided biopsy, and stereotactic biopsy.
