To ensure the accuracy of our patient satisfaction scores, we require that providers who see patients receive a minimum number of completed patient-submitted surveys before their reviews are listed on their profiles. Star ratings on this site are collected on a rolling basis from the previous 12 months.
Additionally, some of the physicians listed on our site do not see patients directly, and therefore, do not receive evaluation and ratings from patients.

Treatment Philosophy

To me, anesthesiology is one of the most challenging fields in medicine.

It often combines intense interpersonal interactions with complex physiology and very difficult surgical procedures. We, as anesthesiologists, often need to meet patients on the day of surgery, quickly inspire trust, sort through an often complicated medical history, and manage a safe procedure while at the same time allowing for minimal patient discomfort post-operatively.

Dr. Helstrom joined Fox Chase’s faculty in 2007 from the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, where he was an attending anesthesiologist in the vascular, thoracic, and neurosurgical services. He was appointed chief medicine officer in 2014.
