State Representative Angel Cruz Invites Constituents to Breast Cancer Screening

PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 24, 2015) – State Rep. Angel Cruz, D-Phila., is inviting eligible constituents to his district office for a breast cancer screening held in coordination with the Fox Chase Cancer Center Mobile Mammography Van.

Fox Chase health care staff will provide the screenings starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at 3503 N. B St., Unit 7, 19134.

The mobile mammography van provides an easy way for women to get their mammograms. It uses digital mammography, which offers very clear pictures that can be immediately given to the doctors who read the images. This type of mammography can also show small growths that other types of x-rays do not find.

Appointments are required. Constituents should call Cruz’s office at 215-291-5643 for more information and to make an appointment. Mammography screening requirements include:

  • Must be 40 or over.
    • Test 1
    • Test 2
    • Test 3
  • Provide the name and address of one of your doctors.
  • Obtain a prescription from your doctor.
  • May not be breast-feeding or have breast-fed within the last nine months.
  • Must not have had a breast cancer diagnosis within the past two years.
  • Must not be under treatment for breast cancer.
  • Must not have had a mammogram in 12 months.
  • Must be able to board the van and stand while being examined.
